London workshop forging stair balustrade

Behind the scenes of one of London’s busiest transport hubs precision-engineered steelwork that keeps the city moving safely and efficiently.

Behind the scenes of one of London’s busiest transport hubs precision-engineered steelwork that keeps the city moving safely and efficiently.

This project for Waterloo Station, commissioned by Transport for London, involved the fabrication and installation of parapet protection and maintenance walkways. Despite being hidden from public view, these structures are essential for operational safety and long-term infrastructure maintenance. The work required high-level coordination, strict compliance with transport standards, and expert installation under tight logistical constraints.

Key Spaces

Maintenance Walkways:

Engineered to provide secure access for inspection teams above and around active transport lines, the elevated galvanized steel structures span complex voids and integrate seamlessly with existing building geometry.

Parapet Protection:

Protective steel barriers and frames were designed to reinforce safety zones across edges and access points — minimizing risk in high-traffic utility corridors.

Structural Coordination:

Working within narrow urban sites and existing architectural limits, every structural piece had to be pre-fabricated with millimeter-level accuracy and installed without disrupting station activity.
