Hart Shoreditch Hotel

Key Spaces
Lobby Focal Point:
The sculpture is positioned prominently near the entrance of Hart Shoreditch Hotel, drawing the eye upon arrival. Its height and transparency make it an ideal visual anchor without obstructing flow or sightlines.
Light Interaction:
As the base emits soft white light upward, the textured glass diffuses illumination across the space, changing dynamically as the viewer moves. This responsive visual rhythm enhances both the architecture and the atmosphere.
Integration with Materials:
The vertical steel rods echo other architectural elements of the space, including the spiral staircase and metal finishes throughout the lobby. Meanwhile, the copper base ties in with the warm tones of the reception desk and floor tiles, grounding the sculpture in its setting.
Details
Color Palette:
Matte black metal, translucent blown glass, and copper tones form a luxurious but restrained palette. Reflections and transparency make the piece feel simultaneously solid and ephemeral.
Materials and Craftsmanship:
Blackened steel rods
Hand-blown glass spheres
Powder-coated frame and TIG welding
Copper-finished base with integrated lighting
Each element was fabricated and assembled with meticulous attention to symmetry and balance.
Engineering & Installation:
Suspending asymmetric glass weights within a circular steel frame required precise engineering to avoid structural strain. All elements were pre-measured and mounted to exact tolerances before final placement on-site.
